Our Autism Assessment Pathway
A comprehensive, supportive journey designed specifically for adults
Step One: Initial 15-Minute Consultation
Cost: FREE
Initial 15 minute consultation to discuss your difficulties and consider if an assessment may be helpful to you. There is no charge for this appointment as we recognise that picking an organisation and therapist that you feel comfortable with is vital in allowing you to get the most out of your experience. If at this stage you wish to book into an assessment the process of arranging your availability will allow us to match you to an appropriate clinician.
Step Two: Pre-Screening Questionnaires
Cost: £230 (deducted from final fee)
If you decide to undertake an autism assessment we will ask you to complete some pre screening questionnaires. These will be password protected and sent via email. (alternative arrangements can be discussed if necessary). This will allow us to determine if a full autism assessment may be beneficial to you or if you may benefit from a combined assessment or an general psychological assessment. Please note the cost for this stage is £230 and will be ducted from your final fee if you decide to go ahead with a full assessment.
Step Three: Full Assessment
Duration: 3 hours (with breaks)
Consists of a full assessment; within this we will take a comprehensive developmental history from you. Your clinician; is trained in nationally recognised and approved assessment tools such as the DISCO, ADI-R and ADOS; which will be used throughout the assessment. In addition all our assessment are guided by the latest diagnostic assessment criteria used by DSM 5 and ICD 11. We ensure these are adapted for adults and take into account the nuances of masking and the potential for gender differences. This assessment will typically last 3 hours with breaks throughout. We aim to make our assessments as relaxing as possible as we recognise this allows people to feel more comfortable in speaking and gaining the most out of the assessment.
Step Four: Conclusions and Report
Duration: 1 hour follow-up session
After meeting for the assessment we will review the outcomes of this and the pre assessments questionnaires. This information is then drawn together to make a psychological view of your current difficulties. We will often discuss the outcomes with other team members; this is to ensure the assessment has a comprehensive multi disciplinary team approach and confirms with NICE guidelines. Often this may be related to autism diagnosis and/ or additional areas of need. We offer a further 1 hour session to explore the outcomes of the assessment, discuss your thoughts and feelings relating to this and offer a selection of potential treatment options that are personalised to yourself. Our reports are neuroaffirmative and will be non judgmental.
Step Five: Treatment
Following feedback from your report; a number of psychological treatment options can be discussed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Autism diagnosis and treatment
How much does it cost?+
We believe in providing a comprehensive and thorough assessment and as such will take time exploring the outcomes of the questionnaires and assessment and gaining a sense of yourself as a person. We also want to weight this against feeling affordable and as such currently offer assessments, follow up and report for £950.
Are you registered with insurance companies?+
Insurance companies are unlikely to fund an Autism assessment; we would advise you to speak with them in the first instance.
Will my local NHS service accept the report?+
Our assessment and report follow the recommendations determined by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). As a result, it meets the high standard usually required by NHS services. However, it is not guaranteed that your local NHS service will accept the diagnosis and report, depending on their policy. I would recommend that if you would like to use the report and diagnosis to access NHS services in the future, that you enquire with your local NHS provider to determine whether they are able to accept the assessment, before scheduling your appointment.
