Our ADHD Assessment Pathway

A clear, supportive journey from consultation to comprehensive report

Step One: Initial 15-Minute Consultation

Cost: FREE

Initial 15 minute consultation to discuss your difficulties and consider if an assessment may be helpful to you. There is no charge for this appointment as we recognise that picking an organisation and therapist that you feel comfortable with is vital in allowing you to get the most out of your experience. If at this stage you wish to book into an assessment the process of arranging your availability will allow us to match you to an appropriate clinician.

Step Two: Pre-Assessment Questionnaires

In order to gather some further information prior to your assessment you will be emailed some pre assessments questionnaires. These will need to be completed and returned prior to your assessment.

Step Three: Assessment

Duration: 3 hours (with breaks)

This can be conducted in person or online. Within this assessment further information will be gathered on background history, presenting concerns whilst conducting the formal gold standard ADHD assessment (the DIVA) and follows NICE guidelines. This assessment will typically last 3 hours with breaks throughout. We aim to make our assessments as relaxing as possible as we recognise this allows people to feel more comfortable in speaking and gaining the most out of the assessment.

Step Four: Conclusions and Report

Duration: 1 hour follow-up session

After meeting for the assessment we will review the outcomes of this and the pre assessments questionnaires. This information is then drawn together to make a psychological view of your current difficulties. Often this may be related to ADHD diagnosis and/ or additional areas of need. We offer a further 1 hour session to explore the outcomes of the assessment, discuss your thoughts and feelings relating to this and offer a selection of potential treatment options that are personalised to yourself. Our reports are neuroaffirmative and will be non judgmental.

Step Five: Treatment Options

Often services will provide a diagnosis with limited support other than medication. Currently we don't have an in house psychiatrist to offer the option of privately prescribed medication (please see FAQ's in regards to this). We do, however believe in offering individuals a more diverse approach to accepting, adapting and managing adhd. As such we offer a number of therapy programs that may be of value including: 1:1 individual therapy (unique to your needs identified via assessment), Psychosocial program delivered on a 1:1 basis which include psychoeducation on ADHD and managing day to day demands, Sessions for parents/partners on what ADHD is and how to offer support in the best psychological informed manner. Please note our treatment options can be accessed if a pre existing ADHD occurs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ADHD diagnosis and treatment

How much does it cost?+

We believe in providing a comprehensive and thorough assessment and as such will take time exploring the outcomes of the questionnaires and assessment and gaining a sense of yourself as a person. We also want to weight this against feeling affordable and as such currently offer assessments, follow up and report for £850.

Are you registered with insurance companies?+

Insurance companies are unlikely to fund an ADHD assessment; we would advise you to speak with them in the first instance.

Will my local NHS service accept the report?+

Our assessment and report follow the recommendations determined by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). As a result, it meets the high standard usually required by NHS services. However, it is not guaranteed that your local NHS service will accept the diagnosis and report, depending on their policy. I would recommend that if you would like to use the report and diagnosis to access NHS services in the future (e.g. medication for ADHD), that you enquire with your local NHS provider to determine whether they are able to accept the assessment, before scheduling your appointment.

What if I want to pursue medication?+

Currently we don't have the option to offer in house medication. As such we recommend that is this is something you wish to pursue you speak with your local GP/NHS services to consider if they would be able to prescribe this. In the first instance any medication commenced would require monitoring by a qualified health care profession. Alternatively we offer a range of therapeutic programs.
